Sukhu government made a crude joke with pensioners regarding arrears: Melaram Sharma

The state government has played a big joke with the pensioners of the state regarding the arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission. State Pensioners’ Association official and Sirmaur district BJP spokesperson Mela Ram Sharma said in a statement issued from Shimla on Thursday that pensioners in the state have reached the fourth stage of their lives, out of which many pensioners have gone to heaven waiting for the arrears. Whereas a large number of elderly pensioners are suffering from diseases. In such a situation, pensioners should be given a lump sum arrears but the government is not serious about the pensioners.
Mela Ram Sharma, citing the notification issued by the State Sukhu Government to the pensioners regarding the payment of arrears of 4th installment of dearness allowance and the arrears of increased pension as per the Sixth Pay Commission, said that according to the said notification, July 2022 From March 2024 to March 2024, 4% DA arrears for 21 months will be paid in 67 installments at the rate of 1.5% per month i.e. it will take 5 years and 7 months. This dictatorial order of the government has caused great harm to the pensioners living a difficult life in old age. Similarly, according to the Sixth Pay Commission, a premature order has been issued to pay the arrears of increased pension of pensioners at the rate of 0.25 percent per month in 400 installments i.e. for 33 years from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2022. He told that which retired officer or employee would keep waiting for the arrears of increased pension for 33 years after retirement.
Giving an example, he said that a pensioner whose age is currently 60 years will get the arrears paid till the age of 93 years and the one whose age is currently 70 years will get the arrears paid till the age of 103 years. Melaram Sharma said that the insensitive government that issued this shameful notification and the officials who gave suggestions and took decisions did not feel ashamed while playing such a crude joke with the old pensioners after looking at the accounts. He said that such a senseless notification has been issued for the first time in the history of the state and the beneficiary pensioners have been greatly hurt.
He has demanded from the state government that this notification should be immediately canceled and the arrears should be paid to the pensioners in lump sum, otherwise at this stage of old age, they will have to adopt the path of struggle and the Sukhu government, which was guest for a few days, will have to suffer the consequences of this.
