Successful Hindi Day Celebration at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla

The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, organized a successful Hindi Day celebration on September 14, 2024. The primary goal of the event was to promote the use of Hindi as an official language and discuss its cultural and administrative importance. The program was chaired by the institute’s secretary, Mr. Mehr Chand Negi.

The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and a Saraswati Vandana presented by Dr. Nivedita. Following this, several scholars shared their insights on the role and development of the Hindi language. Dr. Manish Mishra spoke on “Hindi as an Epitome of Shared Culture,” while Dr. Renu Dwivedi discussed “Amendments in Official Language Policies.” Professor Jitendra Rai deliberated on “Official Language: National Language Hindi,” and Professor Omprakash Sharma highlighted the significance of Hindi as an official language.

Dr. Tek Chand also captivated the audience with an inspiring poem and a song focused on Hindi, enhancing the ceremony’s atmosphere. The event concluded with an address by the institute’s secretary, Mr. Mehr Chand Negi, and a vote of thanks by Dr. Meenu Aggarwal, followed by the national anthem.

The event was attended by scholars, officials, co-researchers, and staff members of the institute, all of whom contributed to making the event a success.
