Statements regarding special financial package to Himachal misguiding: Congress

Negating the claims of the State BJP leaders, particularly the Leader of Opposition, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anirudh Singh, and PWD Minister, Vikramaditya Singh in a joint statement issued here today termed their statements regarding special financial package to the state was misguiding and without an iota of truth.

They said that the BJP leaders sensing their declining popularity were making false statements that the Union Government was compensating the disaster affected in the state, whereas the fact is that the State has not yet received a single penny as additional support or special relief package. They said that out of the relief amount of Rs. 315 crore, which was pending for the last few years with the union government, a sum of Rs.189 crore has been released. Whereas, under SDRF, a total of Rs. 360 crore has been released so far. The Central Government released the first installment of Rs 180 crore in June and the second installment of Rs 180 crore in advance, which was to be received in December and was the due share of the State pending with the Union government.

The Ministers said, that BJP leaders are doing politics in the name of natural disasters just to garner headlines, but the reality is that, till today, the BJP leaders are just giving speeches but have failed to prove how much assistance the center has given in the name of relief package to the disaster torn State.   He said that BJP leaders were treading along the path of one of the Minister in Adolf’s Hitler team, Joseph Geballz, the chief propagandist for the Nazi Party, and propagated the infamous quote, ‘that if a lie is told repeatedly, the people start believing it to be true”.  That is what the State BJP was doing, and there is no end to their lies, the Ministers said.

The people of the state are well aware of their propaganda tactics and the BJP was fully backstage in the recently held Vidhan Sabha session, where the BJP leaders seemed reluctant to admit and give joint consent on the Chief Minister’s resolution of providing special relief package to the State.

The duo advised BJP leaders to stop trying to mislead the people of the state and play a positive role. The ministers said that the state government had several times requested the Center to provide special assistance in this hour of disaster but only assurances were received in return.

In the name of helping the Centre, BJP leaders of the state are using different media platforms to spread the lies and remain in the limelight. In this hour of disaster, every section of the society is extending a helping hand to the state government and the BJP leaders are only busy cooking political meals.

The efforts of the Government during the disaster were highly appreciated by the NITI Ayog and the World Bank but the opposition could not digest the popularity of the Chief Minister and the initiatives the State took, during the times of the disaster. They said that the state government was making earnest efforts for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the disaster-affected people, and on the other end, no help from the center government has announced a special relief package of Rs. 4500 crore with enhanced compensation amount, as per the amended Relief norms.
