State unit of CPI(M) objects to stopping pension for women in Himachal

The state unit Communist Party of India (Marxist) wrote a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh expressing concern about a recent decision by the state government to deny pensions to women.

Submitted a letter to CEO Munish Garg said by Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Dr Onkar Shad said that decision violates the Constitution of India and the rights of women. 

Accusing some flimsy complaint CPI(M) argues that the decision is politically motivated and that the denial of pensions would be a gross injustice to women in the state, many of whom are struggling financially.

The CPI(M) also points out that Himachal Pradesh has the highest percentage of working women in the country and that many of these women are engaged in agricultural work, which is currently facing a deep crisis.

 The party argues that denying these women their pensions would only worsen their situation.

The CPI(M) urges the Chief Electoral Officer to ignore the complaint that led to the decision to stop pensions for women. 

The party argues that the complaint is based on a “16th century philosophy” that treats women as second-class citizens.e

Party states that model code of conduct should not be cane in the way of issuing pension as BJP opposing the decision taken by the government 15 days before MCC a complaint is also  submitted to  Election Commission of India to stop pensions scheme announced for women.
