Pratibha Singh has accused the Central Govt of amending the Right to Information Act
It is weakening the RTI. He said that the Congress party had given the citizens of the country the gift of RTI as their right, under which any citizen of the country has the right to receive any information in a timely manner.
Addressing a press conference at the state Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, Pratibha Singh said that today on the 20th anniversary of RTI, Congress is giving information about its importance in all the states across the country.
Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee member and state affairs in-charge MP Rajni Patil stated that the UPA government, led by Dr. Manmohan Singh, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, presented the Right to Information (RTI) to citizens on this day, October 12, 2005. This was the first step in the UPA government’s commitment to the nation and its rights-based agenda, which includes the MNREGA Act 2005, the Forest Rights Act 2006, the Right to Education Act 2009, the Right to Fair Compensation in Land Acquisition Act 2013, and the National Food Security Act 2013. Addressing the press conference, Rajni Patil stated that the primary purpose of these acts was to empower and empower citizens with information available to social authorities, ensuring the protection of their rights and entitlements.
Rajni Patil said that after 2014, RTI is being continuously weakened, this has hit the transparency and democratic structure of our country.
Rajni Patil said that on the 20th anniversary of RTI, today the Indian National Congress is reiterating its resolve to protect and empower this law, so that every citizen can fearlessly ask questions to the government and get timely and effective answers.
All India Congress Committee spokesperson and Theog MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that the central government has weakened the RTI’s purpose by amending it from time to time. The central government is not filling the post of Chief Information Commissioner and several other positions within the Commission. He said that today the Information Commission has millions of applications for information pending. He said that Congress will not allow the RTI to be weakened at any cost and will launch a special campaign to raise awareness about it.
