Son pays tributes to heavenly father JBL Khachi

Vijay Pal Singh Khachi son of late Jai Behari Lal Khachi paid tributes to his father on his 95th Birth anniversary on a emotional appeal and pledging to follow the legacy shown by stalwart figure of Prajamandal movement. He said in Social media post that it hurts him deeply to think that you are no longer with us. Although I cannot help but smile with tears in my eyes, thinking of you as the father, mentor who did not get his due but never gave up.
Remembering late Sh. J.B.L. Khachi on his 95th birth anniversary (May5th,1927-April10,2002) he said One of the greatest leader in the post-independent political history of Himachal Pradesh. He was among the founder members of Praja Mandal in the erstwhile Kumarsain State. Hence, presided over his 1st Political conference in 1944. He was the man with firm conviction , courage and exceptional oratory skills ( Winner of many All India and Inter university, Debating Competitions)and above all a people’s person. He was pioneer of co-operative movement in the state. The contribution of Mr JBL Khachi include  Organizer:- ( i ) National Conference on role of Co-operatives in the development of Hilly and Tribal areas (1976) (ii ) National Convention on Youth Involvement in Co- operative movement, 1977.Vice President:- i ) State Co- operative Bank ( 1977-1981) ii ) National Co-operative Union of India. President:- State Co- operative Union (1962-1974).Chairman :- i) Co-operative committee for Hilly and Tribal areas ii ) Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Regional Co- operative Training College, Chandigarh).


His political life spanned almost six decades from being the first elected president of Delhi University Student Union to P.W.D. Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He was elected to State Territorial Council in 1957 and to Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly as an independent candidate in 1967 and 1972. Thereafter, he joined Indian National Congress in 1977. He was elected to Assembly again in 1982, 1985, 1993 and 1998. Along with this, he thrice held the rank of cabinet minister too. It is surely a matter of pride that his image has never been maligned and he is remembered so fondly and respectfully even after his demise. A great leader has the ability to connect with masses. He was able to form an instant bond with his people and followers as he delivered all his speeches in native language. Along with it, he had the ability to turn his criticism in his favor due to his astounding sense of humor. He served people with the utmost level of humility. Your fond remembrance of him today is a reminder of how he lived the role of a true leader — the one who gives and lives for people.
