Solidarity with Indian Wrestlers- SFI stages ‘dharna’

The Fourteen days long protest by the Indian wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi now getting support from other quarters of the Country on the calls of joining this agitation given by wrestlers yesterday.

Left-wing students union, SFI staged a protest in solidarity with the wrestlers here today.

In a press release issued by the state unit of SFI said that the country’s top wrestlers are protesting since April 23 day and night at Jantar Mantar against incidents of sexual harassment against some of their fellow members and seeking the arrest of WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

SFI said that protesters include Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, and many other wrestlers who earned medals in this country.

 SFI Himachal Pradesh University leader Harish said, “The wrestlers have been fearless in their fight against the system that protects sexual harassers.  

Students union said that people of the country stand in solidarity with our wrestlers and we will fight with them till they get justice.

 Secretary SFI campus unit Surjeet said, “The country could not ignore the condition of protesters wrestlers under the present regime, where women come to the streets to file cases of sexual harassment, when institutions fail them, they are subjected to more harassment by the police.

  Where will women go to register a protest? Will they have to remain silent forever?” SFI leader questions the establishment for closing their eyes to the crime.

Students union accusing BJP leaders said that they are related to every incident of crime as Kuldeep Sengar, Chinmayanand, and now Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. They said that mockery of governance speaks for it self as in this episode BJP is busy in defending the accused.

They said that wrestlers are on the road but the PM is been busy in the Karnataka election campaign.

People of the Country could not remain silent today when wrestlers of the country are being treated violently, and attempts are being made to intimidate them forcibly, which is shameful for the country.
