SJVN organizes several programs on the occasion of World Environment Day
SJVN organized a series of events on the occasion of World Environment Day at its Corporate Head Office Shimla. On this occasion Executive Director of Human Resources Department Mr. Chandra Shekhar Yadav was the chief guest in today’s program. In his address, he said that “In Indian Vedic traditions, the importance of environment has been accepted since ancient times and our traditions have been emphasizing on environmental conservation.” He said that our ancestors were aware of environmental balance and in religious texts too, earth and trees have always been considered venerable.
On this occasion, Chief Guest Shri Chandra Shekhar Yadav also administered the oath of environmental awareness to everyone. This year the theme of World Environment Day 2024 is focused on “Land Restoration , Desertification and Drought Responsibility”. In this series, SJVN organized various competitions in Government Senior Secondary School Tootikandi and Government Senior Secondary School Annadale , which included painting competition in two categories for classes 6th to 8th and 9th to 10th , speech competition for students of class 11th and 12th. About 200 students of both the schools participated in these competitions. The successful participants of the competitions were also awarded by the Chief Guest today , along with this, various competitions were also organized by SJVN for the employees , in which the successful participants of the plant rearing competition started on the last World Environment Day and the successful participants of the photography competition on the topic “Water Conservation” were also awarded.
E-waste collection drive was also carried out during this period in which about 60 kg of e-waste was collected for disposal. In addition , films related to the theme of World Environment Day were shown for environmental awareness. An exhibition displaying all the entries, photographs and paintings of the participants (SJVN employees and school students) was put up at SJVN Headquarters Shimla.
The Chief General Manager of Environment Department, Shri Sanjeev Gupta also addressed the program. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Anil Kumar Goyal , Chief General Manager R.K. Abrol along with all the officers , employees of SJVN , school children and their teachers and parents were present.
Environment Day was celebrated today in all the offices of SJVN located across the country.
