Shri Anurag Singh Thakur appointed to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Developing India Education Foundation Bill, 2025
Himachal Pradesh: Former Union Cabinet Minister and Lok Sabha MP Shri Anurag Singh Thakur has been appointed as a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Vikasit Bharat Shiksha Pratishthan Bill, 2025. The committee has been constituted to deliberate on the proposed bill that will introduce a new framework in higher education, abolishing the University Grants Commission (UGC) and establishing the Vikasit Bharat Shiksha Pratishthan (VBSA).
The Committee is chaired by Dr. D. Purandeswari, a distinguished former Union Minister and current Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Comprising a total of 31 members from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the Committee will examine the provisions of the Bill to ensure they align with India’s vision for educational reform and development.
Shri Anurag Singh Thakur currently serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Steel, Coal and Mines and as a member of the Public Accounts Committee. He also serves as a member of the Joint Committee of Parliament to examine the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
