Short supply of drinking water SNS shows concern

Shimla Nagrik Sabha showed concern of shortage of drinking water in capital town Shimla in Himachal Pradesh as the rationing of water supply being made after three or four days. SNS and former Mayor Sanjay Chauhan said that State Government and Municipal Corporation Shimla failed to ensure Normal supply in Shiml town. The poor functioning and mismanagement in the distributions are responsible for insufficient and irregular water supply in the entire city every day.  SNS demanded that drinking water should be supplied regularly in every ward of the city in proper quantity on a daily basis, failing to which civic body would mobilize the public and make a big agitation against this failure of water supply.

SNS blamed that the work of implementing the policy of privatization of basic needs like water, electricity and in the year 2018 was responsible for chaotic situation.   Today, despite the supply of water from 38 to 48 MLS per day from various projects made for the city, the government, Municipal Corporation Shimla and the company are not able to supply regular water and even today water is being supplied in the city after 4 to 6 days, he added.

Famous wildlife photographer said in his facebook post that he bought a pack of mineral water of Rs 190 to manage water shortage. He said that four members of his family manage the water shortage at Khalini outskirt of Shimla as supply in their forest colony could not be made for last four days. There is widespread resentment among the people over shortage of water as water supply is being made regularly in VIP areas. Town having number of Hospitality units are also buying water tanker to hotels from outskirt which further dried water supply in these areas. Dr Kuldeep Singh Tanwar said that a complainant is lodged with Chief Engineer Jalshakti Vibhag about supply of drinking water from suburbs to hotels through water tankers. More than 35 Bawaris which were feeding outskirt area during the shortage have been shutdown by the MC after 2017 outbreak of Jundice in the town which infected around 2000 People and more than 30 died due to Jundice and other Health complications.
