Shimla’s MC hike in pet registration fee

A news item regarding a hike in pet registration fees is causing confusion amongst pet parents and animal welfare activists alike.President of SPAC Shimla, Vibhuti Sharda would like to clarify here that adopted homeless dogs, although would still need to be registered as pets with MC Shimla, would be exempt from this registration fee. In fact, MC Shimla offers exemption from garbage collection charges to people who adopt homeless dogs and get them duly registered. Dr. Vibhuti Sharda said that she would like to request all pet parents to get their pets registered and to practice “Poop and Scoop” to keep our city clean. We have requested MC Shimla to make the registration process easier and accessible by making online registration possible and to provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities to make “Poop and Scoop” possible and practical. SPCA and MC Shimla have been promoting the adoption of community dogs so people who are feeding and adopting them need not be worried about these changes.
