Shimla’s Dhalli Roads to Face Temporary Closures for Pipeline Work
Residents and commuters in Shimla’s Dhalli sector will need to brace for traffic disruptions over the next few weeks. The district administration has announced temporary restrictions from 29 November 2025 to 16 January 2026 as the Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam carries out major pipeline-laying work.
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap confirmed that vehicles will not be allowed to ply on certain stretches during two daily windows — 11 AM to 4 PM and 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM — with closures happening in phases.
Phased Road Closures
- Phase 1 (29 Nov – 15 Dec): Dhalli Tunnel (West Portal) to Bhattakufer NH
- Phase 2 (15 Dec – 29 Dec): Dhalli Tunnel (West Portal) to Cemetery Road
- Phase 3 (29 Dec – 16 Jan): Dhalli Tunnel (near Sabzi Mandi) to Dhingu Mata Temple Road
🚶 Focus on Safety
Authorities have assured that pedestrian safety will remain a priority. The executing agency has been instructed to:
- Keep roads clean and free of debris
- Put up clear safety signboards
- Deploy traffic marshals at key points
- Ensure ambulances always have free passage
- Pay special attention to elders and schoolchildren

In a separate move, the District Disaster Management Authority will conduct a mock drill at Jakhoo Ropeway on 27 November at 11 AM to test emergency preparedness.
Officials have urged residents to cooperate, stressing that these short-term inconveniences will pave the way for stronger civic infrastructure and smoother services in the Dhalli region.
