Shimla Hospitality industry welcomes the resumption of the Kalka Shimla Railway Services

 Himachal Pradesh Hospitality industry suffering a major setback from natural calamities and disruption in road, air, and railway services for the last three months hailed the resumption of train service between Kalka Shimla heritage rail line on Tuesday.

Shimla Hotel Stakeholders Association President Mohindra Seth said that it would play an important role in reviving the tourism business in the town.

He said that during the Durga Puja holidays, a large number of tourists from Bengal reach Shimla by train. Since the Shimla Kalka train is a connecting train for the trains coming from Howrah to Kalka, the tourists coming from there get the facility to reach Shimla by toy train. 

The journey of the Shimla Kalka train is a pleasure in itself, passing through 103 tunnels and seeing the beautiful natural sights on the way. 

Similarly, foreign tourists also have the preference to travel by Shimla Kalka World Heritage Train. 

Due to natural disasters, Shimla’s tourism industry has been at a complete standstill for the last three months. 

 The resumption of the Kalka Shimla train service has given hope to tourism businessmen that tourism will soon be back on track. Restoring rail service on a war footing is a commendable task by the Railways. 

 Shimla Hotel Association appreciates the increase in the footfall of Tourists who come to Shimla through this world heritage rail line.

He said that they urged the government to start direct train service from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru to Kalka. 

The connectivity should be provided from Kalka to Shimla by toy train to reduce traffic load on the roadways of Shimla city whose carrying capacity is already overburdened.

 Most of the tourists come to Shimla by road. If a sight train is run between Shimla and Kandaghat, then the tourists coming by road will also be able to enjoy this toy train.

 This type of sightseeing tour could prove to be very effective in extending the stay of tourists in Shimla, the Association added.
