Shimla experiencing a severe water crisis

Amidst a deep water crisis in the capital city of Shimla, a decision has been made to revise the water supply schedule once again. Residents will now receive water every fourth day, excluding two days. However, there is no guarantee that water will be available even on the fourth day. Until now, most areas of the city were receiving water every third day. Due to a decrease in supply from the Giri Water Project, the company now has to create a new schedule. On Saturday, 11.58 million liters of water were supplied from the Giri reservoir, and it is claimed that all areas of the city will receive water on the fourth day. Nevertheless, there are several neighborhoods where water did not arrive even on the fourth day, extending until late evening. In areas like Chakkara, Kacchighati, Ghodachowki, and Harinagar, water scarcity persists until 5:00 PM on the fourth day. Distressed residents have been calling the office located at Chauda Maidan to inquire when water will finally arrive. Some areas lack hand pumps or wells, forcing people to buy water from the market. An advisory has been issued by the water company, urging residents to conserve water as the situation may worsen until the onset of rain. AGM PP Sharma stated that the supply from the Giri reservoir has decreased, necessitating the new schedule for water distribution. Tankers are being dispatched to areas facing difficulties.
