Shadow of covid loom-large on Ice hockey

Shadow of covid loom-large on Women Ice hockey Championship at Kaza Subdivision of Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal as two participant tested positive for Covid 19 recently.

ADM Kaza Mohan Dutt Sharma told us that it was a matter of great pride and honor for Himachal to host National Level Women’s Ice Hockey Championship this year at Kaza.

Unfortunately, in the mid of event coivd  played a spoilsport as two participants were found positive.

“Two people were tested positive during the Kaza National Ice Hockey Camp and were immediately quarantined. One of the positive people is also associated with Shimla Ice Skating Rink .” ADM informed.

The Boy has returned home and is in home isolation. Other people who were their Primary contact too have been quarantined separately.

They have been tested again and now their reports are negative.

He said that sports plays an important role in the development of an individual especially people belonging to the hills where there is a very limited scope of development.

However, the administration did a remarkable job in nipping the evil in the bud as they were wise enough to conduct Rapid Covid tests right on the arrival of the participants.

“Often when we think about Ice Hockey, the mindset is limited to males; we consider it as a male-dominated game. However, we wanted to open a new avenue for females.

It is unfortunate that some participants were found positive but still, the best part is they never mingled with others.

Following strict Covid protocol, we ensured that each participant or any other person coming to be part of the National camp in any way was directly sent to hospital for tests”,

“We are also open to people bringing their negative reports along with them. our motto is to provide the facility to women and give them a push in a positive direction.

We are trying our best to support women in the best possible way and for people who were primary contacts, their second test report is also negative and now they are being shifted to their respective places.

We have made sure that participants are strictly going to the ground and coming back to their rooms” he added
