Seb Utpadak Sangh submits demand charter to Sukhu
A delegation of Himachal Pradesh Seb Utpadak Sangh led by former MLA Rakesh Singha called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at Shimla on 19th January 2026 and presented a demand charter of apple growers to him. The Chief Minister assured them that the State Government will consider their demands sympathetically. Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi was also present on the occasion.
List of demands :
- Following the Supreme Court’s directive, a policy should be formulated to provide farmers with at least 5 bighas or 10 kanals of land. Also, an immediate ban should be imposed on evictions from homes and land.
- Immediately start the rehabilitation of Pong Dam displaced people as per the order of the Supreme Court.
- Implement the Forest Rights Act (FRA) effectively.
- Give Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to milk producers on monthly basis and increase the minimum support price to ₹60/- per litre and provide DPMCU in all societies to record the quality of milk.
- Implement the Land Acquisition Act 2013 and provide adequate compensation for property damage caused by national highways, four-lane roads, and hydropower projects.
- Implement the demands of Luhri-1 and Sunni Hydroelectric Project affected farmers.
- Strongly lobby the central government to stop any free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with New Zealand, the US and other countries and impose 100 percent import duty on apples.
- Make immediate and unconditional payment for apples purchased by HPMC under Mandi Intervention Scheme (MIS).
- Immediate compensation should be given to the disaster affected families for the damage caused to their houses, domestic animals and agricultural and horticultural land as per the declared policy.
- Pressure should be put on the Central Government to restore MNREGA.
- Stop installation of smart electricity meters and cancel the Electricity Amendment Bill.
- Notification for implementation of four labour codes withdrawn
- The work of embankment of Beas river in Mand area of Kangra should be done on priority and mining should be banned and Shah Canal should be repaired immediately.
- The law should be amended to make permission from the Gram Sabha mandatory for using groundwater.
