School children were made aware about the ill effects of tobacco
As part of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign, awareness programs were organized at the Government Primary Schools of Paindli, Shathli, and Nagari, supported by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Junga. Dr. Priyanka and counselor Praveen Kumar provided information about the diseases caused by tobacco use. On this occasion, children and teachers were sworn in to abstain from tobacco use.
Dr. Priyanka explained that tobacco consumption, including bidis, cigarettes, and gutkha, can lead to diseases such as mouth, lung, and colon cancer, heart attacks, respiratory problems, infertility, impotence, stillbirth, gangrene, and blindness. To avoid these diseases, everyone should abstain from tobacco. She said that tobacco use by children in educational institutions is a matter of concern. She advised children to stay away from all forms of addiction.
Counselor Praveen Kumar urged the children to make their family members aware about the ill effects of consuming tobacco i.e. beedi, cigarette and gutkha etc. in their homes and make their families tobacco free.
