SASE sounds avalanche alert in Kullu & Kullu district 

Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment sounds alert of Avalanche in two districts of Himachal Pradesh, Kullu and Lahaul Spiti.In wake of  SASE alert District Administration Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu  appeal the tourists and the local people not to go towards the hilly areas.  SASE said that mainly sunny and clear weather after rain and snowfall possessing the risk of melting of the glacier has increased in such a situation, avalanches could wreak havoc.  DC Kullu Ashutosh Garg informed that Administration has issued red alert in wake of weather, the chances of avalanches increase. Due to which the administration has appealed to the tourists and the local people to avoid going towards the snowy areas. The Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) Manali  avalanches may occur in Kullu’s Nehru Kund, Kulang, Palchan, Kothi, Rohtang Pass, Solanganala, Dhundhi, Vyas Kund, South Portal Atal Tunnel and Banjar, Jalodi Pass in Aani area.  There is a possibility of snowfall and avalanche fall in Koksar, Sissu, Tandi, Darcha, Sarchu, Kirting, Chhatdu, Losar, Batal, Sumdo etc. areas of tribal district Lahaul Spiti. Heavy snowfall for two days It is noteworthy that along with all the high peaks of district Kullu, tribal district Lahaul-Spiti received heavy snowfall for two days. According to experts, the snow after January is more watery, due to which its weight is also more, while the snowfall in December and November is light, due to which it does not melt for a long time. On the other hand, the snowfall that occurs after January does not last long due to being watery. In such a situation, this water snowfall puts more weight on the old snow, due to which snow avalanche fall from the mountains, which further collapse downwards carrying heavy debris of snow with them. It is called a snow storm, which can wreak havoc in the plains.
