Saad Kassis-Mohamed Expresses Interest in Reading FC as Part of Long-Term Vision for Community-Led Football Investment
Gulf-based entrepreneur and philanthropist Saad Kassis-Mohamed has
expressed early interest in acquiring a stake in Reading Football Club, a League One club in the
United Kingdom. While no formal offer has been submitted, internal discussions are underway to
explore how his business and philanthropic background could align with the club’s long-term
interests.
Saad Kassis-Mohamed is the Chairman of Pegasus Air, a regional airline headquartered in Sudan with
connectivity across Central Africa and the Gulf, and the founder of WeCare Foundation, which
operates in over 12 countries delivering sustainable development initiatives in education, healthcare,
and renewable energy.
His potential involvement in Reading FC stems from a broader investment thesis: leveraging sports as
a platform for community engagement, long-term financial sustainability, and ethical governance.
“Reading FC has a loyal fan base and a proud legacy. It’s the kind of club that deserves stability, not
speculation,” said Kassis-Mohamed. “I’m exploring whether my team and I can contribute to building
something meaningful and future-facing with the right structure in place.” Saad Kassis-Mohamed
added.
His investment style is defined by a long-term view, prioritising operational sustainability, local
stakeholder engagement, and measurable social impact. In contrast to top-tier acquisitions driven by
global branding plays, his approach seeks to rebuild undervalued or underperforming institutions
with strong local identities and untapped potential.
Saad’s focus is on underdog clubs with untapped local potential. His model draws from startup and
philanthropic playbooks: prioritizing sustainable growth, community partnerships, and youth
development over short-term commercial returns.
His team has also confirmed that any formal move would only be made in collaboration with the
local football community and with clear intent to ensure financial responsibility, infrastructure
improvement, and a clear pathway for young talent, particularly from within Berkshire.
Recently, Saad Kassis-Mohamed was awarded the Sudan Presidential Medal and was named to
Forbes 30 Under 30 (Social Impact) for his work in infrastructure, education, and sustainable finance.
His recent ventures include partnerships with regional governments on community upliftment, as
well as youth engagement through sport. His foundation has worked with governments across
Oman, Sudan, and Kenya, and has piloted youth programs in partnership with educational networks
in East Africa.
While the situation remains at an exploratory stage, Saad Kassis-Mohamed has indicated his
openness to further dialogue should the right opportunity arise.
