Rescue Efforts Intensify for Stranded Manimahesh Yatra Pilgrims in Himachal
A large-scale rescue and relief mission is in full swing in Himachal Pradesh, where hundreds of pilgrims have been left stranded along the sacred Manimahesh Yatra route. Torrential rains between August 25 and 26 triggered landslides and flash floods, cutting off communication and safe passage for devotees.
In a compassionate move, the Himachal Police have published an official list of stranded individuals to help anxious families reconnect with their loved ones. With mobile networks down in the affected areas, this list has become a vital lifeline for many.
The situation remains dire. Thousands were initially stuck in Bharmour, while others found themselves isolated in Chamba town due to the complete shutdown of the Chamba–Bharmour road.
Despite the challenges, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has managed to evacuate over 3,200 pilgrims to safety. Rescue teams continue to provide food, shelter, and medical care to those still awaiting evacuation. The Chief Secretary has reassured the public that all stranded pilgrims are safe and that every effort is being made to restore normalcy. However, ongoing landslides and relentless rain are making road repairs slow and difficult.
In light of the situation, the state government has urged all pilgrims currently in Chamba to return home, as road restoration is expected to take considerable time.
