Rare Chilgoza forests damaged, Jangi village of Pooh Tehsil  in blages 

The rare and endangered Chilgoza forests in Kinnuar district of Himachal is under blages as fire broke out at Pooh Tehsil in Jangi village at height of near 9000 feet from the sea level which could not brought under control sofar. Spokesperson of district administration Kinnaur said that the fire has broken out after the windstorm in the pine leave of Chilgoza forests on Saturday which could not brought under control sofar. Fire is spreading in the Chilgoza forests with heatwave and raw pine leaves on the ground. “It was first time when fire incidents occurred in the snowline area” Mr Narendra Sharma district Public relation officer said. The Tehsildar pooh and SDM went on the spot look after rescue operation to clear firelines so that fire didn’t spread in the habitation. Fire is spreading in two squre km area which likely to be reduced with burning of raw pine leaves.  ITBP Jawans are also helping to contain the fire.Major forest has also fire broke out in Village Pangi (Tehsil Kalpa ) & Village Aakpa (Tehsil Moorang), District Kinnaur in the state yesterday.Chilgoza is rare a highly proteinous dry fruits found in higher Himalayan ranges of Himachal Pradesh and Afghanistan. Jangi is also facing protest of local people who is opposing the proposed power project .The Chilgoza forest need to protect from fire and human activities as it considered as rare and endangered gymnosperm woods.Jangi is remote area from 17 km from Recong-peo, district headquarter it is followed by Leepa and Asrang which is last villages on Indo-Tibet borders.
