Randhir took the government to task and said that it intends to stop the work of the Central University

Bharatiya Janata Party Himachal Pradesh Media Department in-charge Randhir Sharma said in his statement that Bharatiya Janata Party alleges that the present Congress government of Himachal Pradesh is working to stop the projects of the Central Government. He said that a Central University was sanctioned in Kangra district by the Central Government. For this, land was seen at both Dehra and Dharamshala and it was decided that separate campuses would be built at both the places. During the Bharatiya Janata Party government, the land was settled and the matters of forest clearance of the land moved forward. The campus of the university which was to be built in Dehra, the cost of the land and the cost of trees of the forest was paid by the Bharatiya Janata Party government at that time and after that the work of the campus started in Dehra, the foundation stone of which was laid by the then Union Minister Prakash. Javadekar had done this and also the foundation stone of the campus to be built in Dharamshala was also laid. The case of forest clearance of his land was going on and since last year, the Central Forest Department had asked the State Government to pay Rs 30 crore for the forest department land and its trees in that campus. This application came from the Central Government on July 1, 2023, but even after so much time, the State Government did not deposit the share of Rs 30 crore which was due to the State Government, due to which the NOC of the Forest Department was not being received and the Central University in Dharamshala. The construction work of the campus is not starting. In his statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party demands from the present state government that the state government should immediately deposit Rs 30 crore as payment. So that the work of Central University can be started in Dharamshala also.

The approximately Rs 510 crore project of the Central University requires Rs 30 crore. Due to non-deposit of Rs 30 crore by the state government for this big project, CU’s North Zone campus, which is to be built 30 percent in Jadrangal, Dharamshala, is pending. It is clearly visible that the Congress government is making every effort to stop this project.

Approval has been given for the construction of CU in Jadrangal on 57.10 hectares of land. Despite this, its construction has not started due to non-payment of fees. On the other hand, the construction work of 70 percent campus of CU to be built in Dehra is going on in full swing. The project, which was approved in the year 2009, has received Rs 510 crore. Tenders worth Rs 476 crore have been called for the construction of both the campuses. Due to this, construction work has started in Dehra, but Rs 30 crore is required for Jadrangal. 30 percent construction work of Himachal Pradesh Central University in Dharamshala in Jadrangal is stalled only because the state government is not depositing about Rs 30 crore with the Union Forest Ministry and some other departments.
