Rajiv Gandhi played an important role in the reconstruction of India
On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi, party leaders and workers paid tribute to his photograph by remembering him at the State Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan today. In his memory, this day is celebrated as National Anti-Terrorism Day in the country.
On this occasion, the state Congress president said that Rajiv Gandhi played an important role in the reconstruction of the country. He made a significant contribution in the field of information technology and telecommunication. He said that on this day we pay our tribute to him and pledge to follow the path shown by him.
Kuldeep Singh Rathore, MLA from Theog and spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee, said during this time that Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that Rajiv Gandhi will always be remembered as the creator of modern India. He said that from IT to women empowerment, 50 percent reservation for women in municipal and gram panchayat elections, giving voting rights to 18-year-old youth were a reflection of his political foresight.
Rathore said that the Gandhi family has contributed a lot in the creation of modern India from the independence of the country. He also remembered Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi and said that their contribution can never be forgotten. He called upon all the party workers that they have to come forward for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that today efforts are being made to disturb the communal harmony in the country, everyone has to be cautious of such anti-national forces. On this occasion, Vice President of Forest Corporation Kehar Singh Khachi, Vice President of Himuda Yashwant Chhajta, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surendra Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, former MLA Adarsh Sood, Youth Congress President Chhatar Singh Thakur, Women Congress District President Vinita Verma, along with many councilors and senior party leaders were present.
