Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is concerned about this disaster: Savitri Thakur
Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur visited Manali, Banjar and Sainj areas and took stock of the damage caused by the disaster. The Minister of State visited the disaster affected areas of Old Manali and observed the situation. She also took stock of the villages located around Nalsoo and Manalsoo Nala and met the local people and understood their difficulties. Savitri Thakur said that the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is concerned about this disaster and the Central Government is working with full commitment for the rehabilitation and assistance of the affected families.
The Minister of State said that apart from the disaster affected areas of old Manali, he also visited villages like Solang, Palchang, Samhad and Bahang and took stock of the situation. Here, life has been affected due to cloudburst and sudden floods. The Border Roads Organisation is engaged in the construction and improvement of roads in these areas, so that people can get quick relief and traffic can be restored smoothly.
Minister of State Savitri Thakur held a detailed review meeting with officials of Border Roads Organisation, National Highways Authority of India, District Administration and related departments regarding the disaster situation at Manali Circuit House. Assessment of damage caused by the disaster, pace of reconstruction work and rehabilitation efforts for the affected families were discussed in this meeting. All departments were instructed to expedite relief and rehabilitation work more quickly.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of those who died in floods and natural calamities and Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured. All kinds of assistance including advance payments are being provided to the states under the Disaster Management Rules. He said that a full report of the losses caused by the disaster will be given to the Prime Minister soon.
