President Droupadi Murmu to visit the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu will be visiting the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies on 20 April 2023 during her stay in Shimla. In the institute, she will visit the historical picture museum, library, the then-protected office, and the courtyard of the main building. The arrival of the President at the Institute is considered important in many ways because the building in which the Indian Institute of Higher Studies, Shimla is functioning, was the land property of the President of India after the independence of the country. The great philosopher of the country, the second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had established a high-level research institute in the field of humanities and social sciences here. Apart from this, this building has also been witness to many historical events during the freedom struggle.

President of the Institute Professor Shashiprabha Kumar, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU New Delhi and Director of the Institute Professor Nageshwar Rao, Vice President Professor Shailendra Raj Mehta and Secretary Mr. Subrata Pradhan will welcome and greet the President and inform her about the functioning of the Institute and its historical importance. Apart from this, fellows and co-fellows of the institute will also pay a courtesy call on the President.
