Pratibha urges Gadkari to speed up the reconstruction of Mandi Kullu National Highway damaged due to floods
State Congress President and MP Pratibha Singh met Union Surface and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari at his Transport Bhawan in New Delhi today and asked him to take action against the National Highway Authority for strengthening and expanding roads affected by four-laneing in the Mandi parliamentary constituency. Urged to provide additional funds.
In this context, Pratibha Singh gave a letter to Gadkari and urged that due to recent heavy rains and landslides, there has been huge damage to the roads in her parliamentary constituency Mandi. She said that especially the Mandi to Kullu National Highway has been badly damaged by landslides. She said that to speed up the reconstruction of this road, there is a need to improve and widen its alternative route Chail Chowk Gohar Pandoh Road so that this road can be repaired. But daily traffic can run smoothly. For this, the Public Works Department has sent a proposal of Rs 12 crore to the officials of the National Highway Authority located in Mandi, which should be approved.
Pratibha Singh stressed the need for improvement and expansion of Mandi Bajaura Kullu Manali road via IIT Kamad Katindi Kataula road. She said that during the recent tragedy, when the four-lane road from Chakki Mor to Kullu was completely damaged, the local administration and National Highway Authority officials jointly inspected the old road and restored traffic on it. She said that when Mandi Pandoh road was blocked, the traffic from Pathankot Kangra which used to go to Kullu Manali came through this road. She said that Rs. 6 crore for road repair of the Thalaut division of the Public Works Department is pending with the National Highway Authority, which should be released immediately.
Pratibha Singh has said that being a hilly area, roads are the lifeline of the people. She said that the state government is maintaining these roads with its resources. Due to the poor financial condition of the state, central assistance is very necessary for the improvement of the roads affected by the disaster.
