Pratibha pays tribute to Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary

On the birth anniversary of the country’s first woman former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Late Indira Gandhi, party leaders, officials, and workers paid their respects to her photograph at the state Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan today.

State Congress President and MP Pratibha Singh said on this occasion that the country can never forget the sacrifices and works of Indira Gandhi. He said that Indira Gandhi will always be remembered in the building of modern India. He said that he even sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of the country.

Pratibha Singh said that Indira Gandhi, known as the Iron Lady, had made India proud in other countries with her foreign policy. She said that this country will always be indebted to him. She called upon the party workers to follow the path shown by Indira Gandhiji. He said that Himachal Pradesh will always be forever indebted to those who had given the state the status of a full state.

Dawar said that after the country’s first Prime Minister, Late Jawaharlal Nehru, Late Indira Gandhi took over the post of Prime Minister. He said that Indira Gandhi had nationalized banks, due to which poor and common people could easily get loan facilities. He said that at present BJP has completely disrupted this system.

Dawar accused the BJP of trying to defame the Congress leaders who liberated the country by playing appeasement politics as a well-planned strategy. He said that Congress will never tolerate this. He said that Congress leaders have a huge contribution to the development of the country and there is a great need to make the youth aware of this contribution.

State Mahila Congress President Zainab Chandel said that Indira Gandhi established Mahila Mandals in the country to promote women’s empowerment. He said that Rajiv Gandhi took women forward by giving them fifty percent reservation in municipal bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions. He said that today the BJP government at the Center is making tall claims for political gains regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill. He said that the country has to be saved from the illusion of the BJP.
