People staged a sit-in protest in Kangu Jubdi over the pathetic condition of Sanaura Neri Bridge
A rally was taken out in Kangu Jubdi against the pathetic condition of Sanaura-Neripul-Chhaila road and the heavy trolley vehicles plying on this road for the past several years. Hundreds of people from Pazhouta, Ramumandar participated in the rally and expressed their anger towards the government. District Council Member Devthi Manjhgaon Ward Vinay Bhagnal said that this road has been constructed by the Public Works Department with a load capacity of only 9 tonnes, whereas every year during the apple season, trolley vehicles of 25 to 30 tonnes capacity ply on this road, due to which the condition of the road has become very pathetic. He says that thousands of vehicles ply on this road every day during the apple season. The road has been made very narrow at many places, due to which other vehicle owners have to get stuck in traffic jams for hours every day. More than five accidents have taken place on this road in the past one week. The administration has declared this road from Sanaura to Neripul as an accidental zone.
Vinay Bhagnal said that in the year 2020, a tender of Rs 45 crore was given to PKC Company for the improvement and paving of this road, which expired in July 2025. The company has paved it for a load capacity of 9 tonnes. The road has been uprooted at many places due to the movement of trolley vehicles on this road. He said that the biggest mistake of PWD has been in making the DPR of this road. He says that for the last two decades, apples of Upper Shimla have been going to various markets of the country through this road and PWD should have made the DPR of the road in view of the situation. The department made a DPR for only nine tonnes, due to which it has become a serious problem at present. Apart from this, the government has given this road the status of Major District Road, due to which the required amount is not available to widen and pave this road. Till date, no public representative has made any effort to make this road a state highway. Which is unfortunate.
Zila Parishad member Vinay Bhagnal, Nihal Rapta, Manish Bhagnal, heads of various panchayats of Pazhouta and Rasumandar along with the general public have demanded from the government that until this road is not made double lane and it does not get the status of state highway, the movement of trolley vehicles should be stopped on this road. Apart from this, people have demanded to fill the staff in the sub-division office of PWD, Habban, so that the maintenance work of this road can be done in the best manner.
