Orange alert for Himachal by the Met Department

The Indian Meteorological Department issued Orange and yellow alerts with effect from May 29 to May 30 predicting thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds with 30 to 40 kilometers per hour at isolated places over plains, low and mid hills of the state.

IMD cautioned the farmers that the rain could damage the standing crops, fruit plants, and young seedlings. The yellow alert was also issued in the rest of the state with effect from May 28 to June 1, 2023, also predicting thunderstorms and lightning likely at isolated places.

The state is likely to have rain and thundershowers in many places from May 28, 29, 30, 31, and June 1. 

In the past 24 hrs, Mandi had 20 mm of rain Dharmshala 14 mm, Palampur in Kangra district 10 mm, Sundernagar in Mandi 7 mm, Baijnath in Kangra 4, and Dalhousie three mm.

The Weathermen attributed frequent western disturbances in the Northern Western Himalayas and central India for inclement weather and containing heatwave conditions as the temperature was below normal in most places in the state

The minimum temperature of Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was 3.6 degrees, Kalpa 4.5 degrees, Dalhousie 11 degrees, Solan 12.4 degrees, Mandi 12.8 degrees, Shimla 13.3 degrees Chamba 13.4, Hamirpur 13.9 degrees, Kangra 14,  Dharamshala 14.2, Bilaspur 18  Una 18.6 and Nahan 20.
