Opposition members create ruckus for not getting sufficient time to speak on Governor’s Address

Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly at Tapovan witnessed ruckus as the opposition members protested for not getting sufficient time to speak on the motion of thanks to Governor address on the last day of Winter session on Friday. The BJP Legislators raised the issue through point of order that they have not giving a chance to speak in the discussion of the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address in the House and accused the Assembly Speaker and the ruling party Congress to bulldozed its agenda .Protesting against this, the BJP MLAs staged a walkout from the House while raising slogans. As soon as the proceedings started, Vipin Singh Parmar, leading the opposition in the absence of Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, raised the question of order. Parmar said that the Governor’s address took place on Thursday. Prior to that, the Leader of the Opposition was not invited while receiving the Governor. Apart from this, on the first day of the Vidhan Sabha session, the way applause broke out in the audience gallery and a Congress leader sat in the officers’ gallery in violation of the rules. In future, such a system should be made, so that the dignity of the House is maintained. On this, Speaker Kuldeep Pathania said that a protocol has been fixed in this regard from the President’s Office and the Raj Bhavan that the Vidhan Sabha authorities had communicated. In that, the situation is not clear regarding the Leader of the Opposition as it was clear about the Speaker, CM. These things will be seen in future. After this, there was an uproar in the house when the speaker named Suresh Kumar, Congress MLA from Bhoranj, as the last speaker to discuss the motion of thanks on the governor’s address. On this, the opposition members of the BJP Legislature Party alleged that they were not being given a chance to participate in the discussion. The Speaker talked about using his special powers on which the BJP Legislature Party protested. The uproar kept on increasing amid the noise. Meanwhile, in the absence of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also requested the opposition MLAs to cooperate in the proceedings of the House on the last day. Speaker Pathania then reiterated his prerogative to decide on allowing members to discuss. Due to this, the opposition again got up and went out of the house raising slogans. After this, Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri, in the role of Leader of the House, gave the closing speech of the discussion. He criticized the opposition for not cooperating in the proceedings of the House. CM and Leader of Opposition did not come to the House on the last day. Both Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur were not present in the House on the last day of the session. The Chief Minister was in Delhi to discuss the cabinet formation, while Jairam Thakur could not be present due to the death of his father-in-law.
