Common citizens should follow these rules

  • Sirens may blow warning of air strike during a mock drill. It’s important to understand that it’s a practice, so there’s no need to worry. Keep calm listening to the sound of the siren and follow the instructions of the administration.
  • When the sirens ring, move away from the open areas and take refuge in a safe building, home, or bunker.
  • If you’re out, enter the nearest building and practice arriving at a safe place within 5-10 minutes of the siren blowing. If you have bunkers available in your area, go there.
  • During a mock drill, ‘crash blackout’ will be practiced, which will turn off all lights, so that it is difficult for the enemy to target. Cover your home windows, lighting and doors with black clothes or other materials so no lights go out.
  • Turn off the lights and stop the vehicle while driving on the road, as directed by the administration.
  • Civil Defense Training will be given to citizens and students in the mock drill. This will be taught ways to defend yourself in an attack situation. Attend the training and get information on what to do in case of emergency. This will include practicing hiding in bunkers, first aid and evacuation plans.
  • Mock drill will practice evacuation plans, leading people to safer places.
  • Follow administration’s instructions and stay calm during clearance. Discuss clearance plan with your family in advance and stay informed about your nearest clearance route and safe location.
  • Attention TV, Radio and Government Alerts. Important information will be telecasted by the administration during the mock drill. Avoid rumors and be informed only from official sources.
  • Utility of emergency kit can be explained during a mock drill. This should include water, dry food, first aid kit, torches, batteries, copy of important documents, extra clothes and blankets. Make sure this kit is readily available.
  • Cooperate with Local Administration, Civil Defense Volunteers and Police. If you are connected with Civil Defense or Home Guard, understand your responsibilities and help others. Work together with neighbors and community to make sure everyone stays safe.
  • Explain to kids about drills in advance so they don’t panic. Also tell them about the process of sirens and blackout. Help elderly and special needs people so they can reach a safer place.
