One dies of scrub typhus at IGMC

Amid the horror of Covid-19 another mysterious becterial spreading its tanticles in state as 18yrs old woman hailed to Mandi district became victim of Scrub  Typhus.

The victim  was hospitalized at IGMC after suffering from scrub typhus disease.
This is the first death of this year in state. 
This rainy season recorded around 200 Scrub Typhus cases in the state.
Health specialists  believed that infection if scrub typhus is spreading much faster this time than last year.
Prolonged  rainy season lasts in the state from June 15 to October 15 attributed to the outbreak, Doctors revealed.
It spread from the bite of mite or flea to women and farmers during their  daily chores in the grassy and weedy fields .
The mites are found in grasslands, forests, bush areas, wood piles, gardens, and beaches.
Scrub typhus, also known as bush typhus, is a disease caused by a bacteria called Orientiat sutsugamushi.
 Pathogens of Scrub Typhus  spreads  through the bites of infected chiggers (a larval mite).
 Scrub Typhus can also be transmitted through  unscreened blood transfusions and unhygienic needles.

Signs and symptoms may include Fever and chills; Body aches and muscle pain; Loss of appetite; Nausea; Vomiting; Stomach pain; Cough and Rash (typically occurs around day 5 of illness).
Doctors say that the Epidemic typhus is spread to people through contact with infected body lice but not on basis of man-to-man contact.
If you suspect that you have murine typhus, see a doctor as soon as possible. If you wait too long to see a doctor, you may have to be hospitalized.
 Murine typhus is easily treated with certain antibiotics. Once you recover, you will not get it again.
Most common symptoms of this out break is high grade fever , sweating, cramps, accute headache, bodyache etc.

It is fatal if not  treated in time need hospitalisation.
Doctors say the disease is curable using antibiotics, but it can get out of hand when the diagnosis is delayed.
Official said that 90 patients of scrub typhus  reported at the IGMC, Shimla and rest others in other districts hospitals.
