NH-505 Kaza – Gramphu Road Reopens

District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Lahaul & Spiti have announced the reopening of NH-505 (Kaza – Gramphu Road) following extensive snow clearance efforts.

In a press release issued here today both authorities disclosed that after improved road conditions, computers should abide by the travel advisory to ensure the safety and smooth passage of travelers.

The NH-505 road, specifically the Sumdo-Kaza-Gramphu stretch, is now open to the general public. This reopening comes after a period of heavy snowfall that had previously obstructed the route.

Traffic on the Lossar – Gramphu stretch is permitted for 4×4, 4×2, HMV vehicles, and bikes from both directions.

Vehicles are allowed to travel between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM only. The Police Department will oversee traffic management to ensure safe and regulated movement.

Travelers should be aware that the Gramphu to Lossar road is prone to rock falls and avalanches, and it is crucial to exercise extreme caution.

Vehicle movement will depend on current weather and road conditions, which can change rapidly in this region. It is essential for vehicles to meet all specifications and requirements as mentioned in the advisory.

Travelers should ensure their vehicles are well-prepared, with sufficient fuel, proper machinery, and appropriate tire conditions.

Non-skid chains and a shovel should be part of the travel gear. Stoppages on the Gramphu to Lossar route should be minimized to prevent traffic build-up and ensure continuous flow.
