Narendra Sharma, a dedicated Public Relations Officer retires

Narendra Sharma, a dedicated and well-respected Public Relations Officer, retired on May 31 from the Information and Public Relations Department. His retirement marks the end of a notable 19-year and 7-month tenure in public service, during which he served with distinction and commitment.

Before joining the department, Mr. Sharma was an accomplished journalist, a background that significantly contributed to his effectiveness in the PR role. He began his journey in public relations as an Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) at the head office in Shimla, and his career saw him holding key positions across various districts, including Kinnaur, Bilaspur, and Shimla. His work ethic and amiable nature made him a standout professional in the field.

Mr. Sharma hailed from Sunni in the Shimla rural constituency, and his connection to the community was evident throughout his career. His service extended beyond his official duties, as he continuously engaged with the public and media, fostering strong relationships and ensuring transparent communication.

Despite his retirement date coinciding with the day before the Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Sharma’s dedication saw him working diligently on the polling day as well. He provided crucial updates to the Election Department on the election process at Shakti, a remote polling station in Kullu district. On his final working day, he participated in a significant meeting regarding election preparations chaired by the Deputy Commissioner.

Narendra Sharma’s retirement was marked by a farewell party organized by his department, where colleagues celebrated his contributions and legacy. Known for his polite demeanor and professional acumen, he leaves behind a lasting impression on the media fraternity and public relations field. His efforts and commitment to his role will be remembered and appreciated by many, continuing to inspire future generations of public relations professionals.
