Movement of Light vehicles starts in Manali- Leh road.

The Movement of light vehicles started from Monday onwards on the strategic Manali-Leh NH-3 as vehicles would be able to go every day till 1 pm, the district administration said in a press release issued here today. Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-Spiti Mr Neeraj Kumar said that Manali-Leh road would remain open for small vehicles from Baralacha pass till 1 pm every afternoon.  The administration inspected the said route, which was successful.  The same Via Shinkula route has already been opened. Kumar said that the traffic movement of light and small vehicles has been opened.  Now people could go through Baralacha pass through small vehicles beyond Darcha.  But for the time being there would be a ban on the movement of trucks and two wheelers.  The movement of trucks and two wheelers will be started in the next few days after assessing the conditions on the route.  The administration has appealed to the drivers to park their vehicles only at the designated places.  Along with this, instructions were given to the police department to maintain parking and traffic arrangements. It is worthwhile to mention that due early snowfall last winter vehicular traffic was off on the NH-3 beyond Keylong and Darcha which was opened for traffic recently. Around 435 km roads remained off from Nov 15 to April or May months every winter. All weather tunnel is already commission between Manali and Keylong and another tunnel is under construction to keep open this highways at Shankula pass. four tunnel is being processed on the high to keep open this strategic road round the year.
