Mothers Against Addiction campaign to be launched for de-addiction : HGVS

A workshop on the growing problem of drug addiction among youth was organized at the Kandaghat Block Office by the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti, along with coordinators from the National Rural Livelihood Mission. Block Development Officer Rajesh Thakur chaired the workshop. Praising the de-addiction campaign launched by the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti, he said that the current trend of youth falling prey to various types of drugs is not only a matter of concern but also a matter of concern.
Satyawan Pundir, the committee’s state secretary, shared his experiences with the Save Youth campaign against drug abuse. He urged community initiatives and broad unity against drug abuse, mobilizing social, religious, cultural, political, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.
Urmil Thakur, retired from DIET, discussed the digital intervention (The White Tooth) in the form of a web series by the committee, considering the role of youth in social media, and also showed the trailer to the participants.
Ravindra Sharma, retired Additional Director of Tourism, emphasized the importance of dialogue with affected families and young people recovering from addiction. Retired Welfare Officer Sumitra Chandel, speaking on family intervention and the central role of mothers, urged the inclusion of every woman in the “Mothers Against Addiction” campaign.
He stated that a mother has the greatest natural, emotional, and biological connection to her children. Therefore, along with the important role of the family, a mother’s role is paramount. When a child becomes addicted to drugs, it is the mother who suffers the most. Therefore, mothers need to be mobilized and empowered against drug abuse so that they can recognize the symptoms early and make sound decisions to help their child overcome addiction at the right time.
State co-secretary of the committee Sita Ram Thakur, Jayant Sharma and Sudesh were also present on this occasion.
