Lions Club Shimla Organizes Blood Donation and Health Camp at Chail-Koti College
In a significant move towards community welfare, the Lions Club Shimla organized a Blood Donation and Blood Test Camp at Chail-Koti College. The event, aimed at promoting health and social responsibility, was a resounding success with enthusiastic participation from students, college staff, and the local community.
Lion Man Mohan Verma, President of Lions Club Shimla, shared that the blood donation drive witnessed remarkable support as a team from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Zonal Hospital (DDUZH), led by Dr. Ganga Sharma, collected 30 units of blood. He emphasized that this generous contribution would address the urgent demand for blood in the region, benefiting countless patients in need.
Apart from blood donation, the camp also featured free blood testing in collaboration with BVP Clinical Laboratory, Shimla. Tests conducted included assessments for diabetes, hemoglobin levels, postprandial glucose (PP), complete blood count (CBC), and more. Around 105 individuals availed themselves of these free tests, taking a proactive step towards monitoring their health and evaluating organ functions.
Addressing the critical issue of organ donation, the camp also hosted an awareness program conducted by doctors from Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). The experts highlighted the pressing gap between the high demand for organs and the limited availability. They encouraged the community to embrace organ donation as a way to offer hope and a second chance to those battling life-threatening conditions.
The camp witnessed the active participation of key members from Lions Club Shimla, including Lion Sufal Sood (Project Chairperson), Lion M.K. Sharma (Secretary), Lion J.P. Sharma, and Lion Daleep Kumar. Dr. Deep Shikha, Principal of Chail-Koti College, along with college staff and members of the public, also extended their support to the noble cause.
The Lions Club Shimla remains steadfast in its commitment to community upliftment through initiatives focused on health, environment, and social welfare. This successful event marked yet another milestone in their journey to serve humanity.
