Lions Club Brings Free Health Camp to the Heart of Shimla

Staying true to their mission of community service, the Lions Club of Shimla organized a much-needed free Health Check-Up Camp at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.

The event was a collaborative effort with Max Hospital, Mohali, and was officially opened by Shimla’s Honorable MLA, Shri Harish Janartha. He praised the Club for its ongoing social initiatives and encouraged them to continue this vital work for the public good.

Echoing this sentiment, Club President Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid assured the community that this is just the beginning. He announced plans for future eye and health check-up camps and reminded everyone of an upcoming Blood Donation Camp at The Ridge on November 9th.

Lion ManMohan Verma, Zone Chairperson, highlighted the global reach of Lions International, explaining that their work in health, education, and disaster relief is carried out purely on a charitable basis worldwide. He shared a powerful example: Lions International provided a grant of ₹15 lakhs for disaster victims, with relief materials recently flagged off by the Honorable Chief Minister for distribution by local Lions Club members.

A Hands-On Success for the Community

The camp was a resounding success, thanks to the dedicated team from Max Hospital. Specialists like Dr. Gurjot (Medicine) and Dr. Arjun (Orthopedics), along with staff like Shivam, provided on-the-spot services including:

· Blood Tests
· Bone Mineral Density Tests
· Pulmonary Function Tests
· ECG

A total of 168 people received free check-ups. The Lions Club went a step further, distributing prescribed medicines worth ₹45,000 at no cost to the attendees. The camp also provided valuable community health insights, noting that orthopaedic issues, blood pressure, and sugar were among the most common concerns.

The event was made possible by the active participation of the entire Lions Club Shimla family, including President Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid, Zone Chairperson Lion ManMohan Verma, and many other dedicated members and their families.
