Light magnitude earthquake jolts snowbound Lahaul Spiti
A light-intensity earthquake jolted snowbound Lahaul Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh last night, the Indian Meteorological Department informed today.
An Earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was experienced at 2237 hrs last night.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the high reaches of the snowbound tribal district at a Latitude of 32.73 & Longitude of: 76.61 and a depth of five km and about 300 km from state capital Shimla.
No loss of any life or property has been reported so far.
Currently, the entire Lahaul Spiti district is wrapped by a thick layer of snow and most places are under high alert for the high probability of avalanche.
