Life resumes to normal after three days of inclement weather in Himachal

 Life resumed to normal after a three-day long spell of thunderstorms, rain, hailstorm, and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh as it was sunny today.

Lahaul-Spiti district was again cut off from the rest of the world after a mountain of snow on the roads and moderate to heavy snowfall on the high reaches.

An advisory issued by the district Administration said that due to heavy snowfall in the district & shooting stones at multiple locations, many roads are blocked. 

The mounting of snow and slippery roads forced the administration to stop the movements of all types of vehicles on these routes are restricted till further orders. 

Clearance of the road is under process so vehicular movement shall only be permitted after clearance from BRO. 

Among the roads closed in the district ars NH – 03 from North Portal to Darcha, (including Baralacha pass), and Darcha – Shinkula – Zanskar is closed ( at Shinkula pass) Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi (SKTT are blocked between Tandi to Kaddu Nullah. Similarly, NH – 505 Lossar to Gramphu closed. 

An Advisory was also issued for the next 24 hrs that due to prevailing  Inclement weather in the valley and the possibility of avalanches, Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. 

” In case of Snowfall, they are requested to move and stay in safe places. All Hotel and Homestay owners are also requested to advise their guests likewise.  ” Administeration said in the Travel Advisory.

Bring cheers to the faces of tourists who are visiting Manali with fresh spells of Snowfall experienced in the high reaches of Kullu Manali.

According to Met Office Gondola in Lahaul-Spiti had 22.5 cm of snow, Keylong:12.8 cm and  Khadrala in Shimla eight cm, Kukamseri (Lahaul-Spiti) had 5 cm of snow, and Kalpa in Kinnuar 3.8 cm. 13050 ft High Rohtang pass, Goshal hills, Kunzum pass, Lady of Keylong, Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur Kailash of Kinnuar recorded moderate to heavy snowfall in the state.

Widespread rain lashed most places of the state in the last 24 hrs as Mashobra(Shimla): 59.5 mm, Manali 42 mm, Bhuntar 41 mm, Rohru (Shimla): 37 mm. Shimla 23.7 mm, Kufri 20mm, Sundernagar (Mandi) 18 mm, Airport Jubbarhati 15 mm Dharmshala 13 mm and Dalhousie 12 mm. 

Minimum temperature plummet several degrees below normal as Keylong was minus three degrees, Kalpa minus 0.4, Narkanda 1.4, Manali three, Kufri 4,  Shimla 4.7, Dalhousie five, Chamba 9.7, Solan & Dharamshala 10.4, Mandi 10.6,  Kangra 11, Hamirpur 12, Una 12.6, Nahan 16, Bilaspur 14.5 and Jubbarhati airport 9.3.

Met office forecasts rain and thundershowers in isolated places in the next 24 hrs in the state and a yellow warning so forecast for the rest part of today.
