Lieutenant Rajat was welcomed with garlands upon reaching his ancestral village Peeran

After cracking the national-level Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam, Rajat Verma arrived in his native village of Peeran for the first time on Sunday, where he was warmly welcomed by locals with garlands and chants of “Rajat Verma Zindabad.” His father, Khajan Singh Verma, and mother, Shakuntala Verma, were inconsolable at their son’s achievement. It is noteworthy that Rajat Verma has achieved a record by passing the CDS exam in his first attempt without any coaching. Rajat will now begin his service as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army, securing the 43rd rank all-India. It is worth noting that Rajat Verma has become the first Army officer from this region to do so, bringing pride to the entire Junga region and serving as an inspiration to the youth. Upon receiving orders from the Army, Rajat will proceed to train at the Officer Training Academy in Chennai.
It is worth noting that Rajat Verma was born in 2002 in Peeran, a village on the outskirts of the Mashobra block. His father, Khajan Singh Verma, is a teacher in the education department, while his mother, Shakuntala Verma, is a homemaker. Rajat completed his nursery through 12th grade at St. Edward’s School, Shimla. Rajat subsequently earned a BA (Economics) from Degree College, Solan. Rajat stated that he had a passion for uniforms since his school days. During his college days, Rajat actively served as an under officer in the NACC, earning him the opportunity to participate in the Republic Day parade in Delhi twice.
He credits his success not only to his parents but also to his uncle, retired bank manager Mohan Verma, and his aunt (retired SO) Shiksha Thakur, a High Court officer in Shimla, under whose guidance he received his education in Shimla since childhood. He urges young people not to ruin their lives by falling into bad company, such as drug addiction, but to set goals according to their interests and move forward.
