Let’s Celebrate Holi Responsibly: Save the Youth, Save the Future appeals HGVS

As the vibrant festival of Holi approaches, we extend our heartiest greetings to everyone! Holi, the festival of colors, is a time for joy, togetherness, and celebration. But this year, let’s also make it a time for reflection and responsibility.

Many of us are already familiar with the calls to play a safe and eco-friendly Holi—saving water, using natural colors, and avoiding harmful substances like grease, chemicals, or eggs. These are all important steps, but the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti is taking it a step further with a powerful message:

“This Holi, let’s not just burn Holika—let’s symbolically burn the evils of intoxication and protect our youth.”

The Samiti draws a striking parallel between the ancient story of Holika and Prahlad and the challenges we face today. Just as the demon king Hiranyakashipu tried to destroy Prahlad, today’s drug mafia is targeting our children and youth. Intoxication has become the modern-day Holika, threatening to consume our future.

To combat this, the Samiti urges communities to come together and organize Holika Dahan in their villages, neighborhoods, or public spaces. But this year, let’s add a new dimension to the ritual. In front of the sacred fire, let’s take a collective pledge to eradicate intoxication and protect our youth.

This Holi, let’s celebrate with all the joy and enthusiasm it deserves. Play with colors, dance, sing, and share sweets. But let’s also remember the dignity and sanctity of the festival. Together, we can ensure that Holi remains a celebration of life, not a gateway to destruction.

Let’s make a promise: This Holi, no one will indulge in intoxication.

And to the youth, we have a special request: Celebrate in a way that sets an example for the future. Let the Holi of 2025 be remembered as the year we took a stand—a milestone in the fight to save our youth and secure our future.

This is more than just a festival; it’s a movement. Let’s make it count.
