Landslide in Sanjauli’s Engine Ghar buries two vehicles, water supply disrupted

A landslide struck the Engine House Road in Sanjauli’s Engine Ghar Area, late Tuesday night, causing two vehicles parked along the roadside to be buried under debris. Additionally, several drinking water pipelines were damaged, threatening the area’s water supply.

A large tree, now precariously leaning, poses a significant risk to nearby homes. Local councilor Ankush Verma reported that the landslide occurred suddenly around 8:30 pm, with two cars trapped beneath the debris.

The damaged pipelines, crucial for water supply to the engine house, may cause disruption on Wednesday. Junior Engineer from the water company promptly arrived at the scene and confirmed that water would not be available for residents on Wednesday.

Repair work is begin carried out since early morning to restore the water supply, which had been further delayed due to previously planned maintenance on the Koti Brandi water tanks. The cleanup of debris from the road has started in the morning, according to Councilor Verma.

Shimla’s Mayor , Mr Surender Chauhan visited the site and assured the residents that repair work and water restoration will be done on priority to avoid any inconvenience.
