Landslide at Richmond- block Jodha Niwas-US club road in Shimla
Landside occurred near 11 story Ropeway at Richmond aeaa of this capital towndisrupting vehicular traffic and movement of commuters on Jodha-Niwas Richmond and Jodhaniwas US-Club.
State Emergency Operation centre spokesperson Mr Sudhesh Mokta said that road linking Shimla Jakhu Ropeway-Richmond cave in last night in the town.
The landslides not only completely cave in or closed Ropeway-Richmond-Jakhu and Ramchandra choke but it snapped road communication between Jodha Niwas and US-Club area of the town .
The light vehicles and MC truks could not move toward Jakhu and Ridge ground and it also blocked the movement of commuters in the area.
A recently metalled road and Shimla MC railing also damaged in the landslide however no loss of life is reported as the mishap occurred in the night hours when vehicular traffic remained very slow.
In last 24 hrs most places of state recorded incessant rainfall as Naindevi of Bilaspur had record 181 mm rain, Kandaghat of Solan and Sangrah of Sirmaur reocrded 65 mm rainfall, SOlan 63 mm, Shimla 55 mm, Berthin in Bilaspur 47 mm and Pachhad of Sirmaur and Rohru of SHIMLA 45 mm each.
Moderate ot heavy rainfall also occured at Jubbal, Una, Narkanda, Kufri, Jubberhati, Kasauli, and Mehre and Nahan in Sirmaur district.
South West Monsoon likely to be recceed further as Met Office forecast light to moderate rain in isolated places in next 24 hrs.
