Landscape plantation drive in schools by CSIR-IHBT

Under Urban Floriculture of CSIR-Floriculture Mission, CSIR-IHBT developed six gardens in different government schools of Palampur block, Dist. Kangra, H.P.  About 650 landscape plants were planted in Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Lahala and Dadh; Shaheed Rakesh Kumar Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Chachian; Govt. Primary School, Dadh; Govt. Middle School, Chachian and Govt. High School, Gopalpur in last week. These plants include Araucaria, Hibiscus, Boxwood, Hydrangea, Madhumalati, Thuja, Cypress etc. About 900 students, teachers and other staff of the schools actively participated in the development of gardens.  The students were also made aware of the landscaping skills and the importance of plants and gardens. The principals and teachers of all the schools have expressed their gratitude to the Director of the institute and the Mission staff for their wonderful work. Under this mission, gardens are developing in about two hundred schools and colleges in five different states.
