Kissan Sabha seek action against Syngenta seed

Hundreds of Farmers of five grampanchayat of Kasumpti assembly segment of Shimla district feeling cheated as they were supplied uncertified seed by a Multinational firm spelling doom on their fortune after failure of Cauliflower crop.

Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha President Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar and district President of HKS Mr Satyavan Pundir, Gram Panchayat Pardhan of affected Panchayat met with affected families on Saturday.
Five members team of Kissan Sabha led by Dr Tanwar visited five gram panchayats came to know that royts of others grampanchayat of Chail and Theog are also facing similar outcome.

Mr Pundir said that Farmer who have bought Lucky seeds of Cauliflower in the winter got yield of  green colour and irregular shape vegetable produced.

Forty to eight percent of Farmers who sawn Lucky Cauliflowervseed remained unlucky forcing them to bear the heavy loss alone.
This delegation lead by the Dr Tanwar met with Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Abhog Singh handed over a memorandum to Government to black list the firm and provide compensation to affectted farmers.
Officer assured the delegation to constitute a team of department along with expert of Dr Y S Parmar University Nauni to probe the allegations on the demand of Kissan Sabha, Mr Pundir told our reporter.
Farmers are aledging that Syngenta seed sold to them was uncertified as lucky Seed of Cauliflower was not true for its brand and quality and it cost them exorbitant rate of Rs 90000 per kilogram. 
This Cauliflower seed is sawn by the royts of Dehna, Cheog, Nalla, Dharaich Nohal and Tayali Gram Panchayat.
“Offseason Cauliflower fatch the attractive price band of Rs 35 to Rs 40 per kilogram on their produce but this time it left hundreds of farmers in limbo.” HKS leader informed.
Firm was also aprised by the effected Farmers about its irregular quality, defending itself attributing irregular quality of cauliflower to climate change.
Farmers atlast connected the Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha when firm did not entertain the queries.

A memorandum had handed over to Block Developmental Officers Mashobra recently by the Kissan Sabha seeking strict action against the firm’s supplying uncertified seeds .

Dr Tanwar said thatPractice of supply of uncertified seeds are becoming prevalent in the state as govt and state agencies allowing such firms to cheat the Farmers.
The quakes and unregistered middleman are making Silver business as such people have given impunity by the government, he added.
Thousands of farmers and apple growers are being facing the mence of such cartels every season forcing them to bear with irreparable loss to them. Illicit market practice are mushrooming every years as action was taken mildly against them for the name sake, Dr Tanwar added.
