Keylong shivers at minus 11 degree C

 Minimum temperature of Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul-Spiti district of plummet to minus 11 degrees which was three degrees below normal. The bone biting cold wave disrupted vehicular traffic and water supply in many places in the state. The extreme cold wave condition not only confined to snowline areas but Mercury dive under subzero in plain and foot hill. Met Office said in a Weather bulletin issued on Wednesday that Tourist resort Narkanda received traces of snowfall and dipping night temperature to minus 2.2 degrees. The bright sunshine eased normal life in state capital Shimla recorded low at 1.7 degrees  & 1.3 degree below normal. Kalpa in Kinnuar was minis 4.2, Solan minus 0.2, Manali minus 2.2, Kufri minus 0.9, Hamirpur 0.4, Una 0.9,Mandi 1.6,Chamba 2.4, Dalhousie 3 and Dharmshala 5 degrees. Freezing of pipeline disrupted water supply in tribal areas and many Tourist resort in the morning. Similarly vehicular traffic was extremely slow at Bilaspur due to very dense fog reducing visibility to 30 meter, 50 meter in Mandi and 200 meter in Una. However visibility, fog and haze declined with rising temperature in the day. Lahaul-Spiti district administration issued advisory to Tourist and local commuters to drive cautiously on Manali-AT-Keylong highway due to formation of black ice and extremely slippery roads. It has scheduled the movement vehicles for the day today coming towards Solang and Atal Tunnel and Lahaul. All types of vehicles except two wheelers would be left for Atal Tunnel from Manali at 9 am and from Solang barrier at 10 am. Tourist vehicles towards Lahaul and tunnel would be released from Solang barrier from 10 am to 2 pm, which would have to return from tunnel before 4 pm. Tourists are requested to return back before stipulated time, to avoid driving in black ice conditions. Moreover above traffic plan would subject to impending weather conditions.
