Keonthal team won the football cup competition
The 10th Suresh Memorial Real Football Cup, which had been going on for the past five days at the historic Junga Sports Ground, concluded on Thursday. The local Kyanthal team defeated MUFC Khalini Shimla in the final to win the trophy. A total of eight teams participated in this football cup competition, which was organized by The Parivartan Foundation, Shimla. Dr. Manoj Verma, Medical Officer of Civil Hospital Junga, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes to the winner and runner-up.
On this occasion, Dr. Manoj Verma stated that sports hold immense importance in human life. Sports foster physical, mental, and intellectual development, while also fostering positive thinking. He added that the state government is promoting sports to make Himachal Pradesh drug-free, so that youth can stay away from various types of addiction and lead healthy and comfortable lives through sports. He donated ₹5,100 from his personal account to the Sports Committee.
Shubham Koondel, organizer of the football tournament, said that Suresh Koondel was a renowned football player who brought glory not only to Junga but to the entire state by participating in various competitions. A football tournament is held annually in Junga in his memory.
