Junga’s Shaurya secured a place in the top 100 in the national level heroic saga competition
Shaurya Thakur of Junga has brought honor to the state and the Junga region by securing a top-100 spot in the national-level Veergatha Competition 5.0, organized as part of the Republic Day Celebrations 2026. This competition was organized under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Defense and Education of the Government of India, and 19.2 million children from across the country participated. In this competition, Shaurya Thakur wrote a beautiful, heart-touching poem based on the sacrifice and valor of Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra. Based on the evaluation, Thakur secured a place in the top-100 at the national level. As a result, he will be awarded a cash prize of 10,000 rupees and a citation by the Ministry of Defense and Education on the upcoming Republic Day in Delhi. Additionally, he will have the opportunity to participate as a special guest in the Republic Day Parade 2026.
It is worth noting that Shaurya Thakur is originally a resident of Bhadech near Junga. His father Ashok Thakur and mother Sujata Thakur live in the UAE. Eight-year-old Shaurya Thakur is studying in the third grade at Bright Riders School, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Many people, including Tehsildar Junga Kartikeya Sharma, Panchayat Pradhan Junga Bansilal Kashyap, and Pradhan Bhadech Panchayat Madan Mohan Thakur, congratulated Shaurya Thakur’s parents on this unique achievement. The Tehsildar said that Shaurya has brought pride to Junga and Himachal Pradesh at the national level.
