Junga Dussehra fair will be celebrated for the first time in police grounds

 The ancient and famous Dussehra fair of the Keonthal area will be celebrated for the first time this year at Police Ground Junga. Whereas for the past several decades this fair has been celebrated at the historical school ground of Junga. Due to the ban imposed by the Honorable High Court of Himachal Pradesh on organizing social programs in educational institutions, this time the local administration had to change the venue of the fair. For which a round of meetings continued throughout the day in Junga on Saturday.
Tehsildar Junga and fair officer Ravindra Sisodia said that like the previous years, the district-level Dussehra fair will be celebrated with pomp at the police grounds for the first time this year. To make this fair attractive, well-known folk artists of the state Suresh Sharma and Vinod Ranta have been invited. Apart from this, local artists will also be provided an opportunity to showcase their talent at the fair.
He said that as per tradition, on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra on 24th October, the ruler of the then Keonthal state would burn the bridges of Ravana, Kubhankarna, and Meghnad and set up Lanka Dahan. Similarly, on October 25, women’s tug of war and other competitions have been organized during the day in which various women’s groups and self-help groups will participate and a cultural evening has been organized at night in which famous folk artists of the state will participate. There will be a huge dance on 26th October in which famous wrestlers from North India will participate.
He said that special arrangements have been made to maintain law and order in the fair. Apart from this, committees have been formed to make arrangements for water, electricity, etc. at the fair site.
